Qualified Portuguese Interpreter and Translator
I am a full time Portuguese interpreter and translator based in Scotland. I have been working in this industry for around 20 years and I have acquired an extensive range of experience in a number of fields, including Law, IT, Health, Business, Construction and Oil & Gas.
Background in Business and Management
In addition to being a Portuguese interpreter and translator, I also have a background in business and management and I worked as a senior strategic and operational manager for the largest interpreting and translation agency in Scotland (at the time) for 12 years. As part of that role, I was involved in discussions with stakeholders like the Scottish Government and the Scottish Courts Service and the Police regarding the use of interpreters, quality issues and the setting of standards. I also managed and wrote a number of forward thinking tenders for interpreting and translation services, having achieved a rate of success in winning tenders for the company close to 100% in my last 3 years, before leaving to pursue my career on a freelance basis.
In the last 5 years, since setting up as a freelancer, I have continued to pursue my passion for interpreting and translation, providing business and language consultancy in addition to language services to a number of stakeholders.
Provision of Translation Services for the European Commission
I also won a contract for the provision of translation services for the European Commission, where I am currently the only PT > EN external contractor on the framework and one of fifteen EN > PT contractors.
I have also been working as a training consultant for more than a decade, developing tailored business, interpreting and translation training programmes, in addition to training students for the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting from the Chartered Institute of Linguists.
